About Us

Emily Grayshaw

I began my career as a gardener in 2001 at a herb nursery where I became a quality control manager. When the owners retired I began work for Notcutts Garden Centre and was the Outdoor Manager at Cranleigh for a number of years, managing the department and advising customers.

I went on to work for Coblands Trade Nursery where I worked with garden designers to put together plant orders.

After my first son was born I needed to cut down my hours and became a gardener at an NGS garden, where I gained a huge amount of knowledge about garden maintenance. Once my second son was born I began maintaining gardens locally. I met Judith through the school and discovered we both loved gardening and wanted to create a business out of it.

I grew up on a working farm and lived in this environment until I was 21. I learnt about land management, garden maintenance and developing and managing a kitchen garden. After a brief period away from all things green I returned several years ago to my ‘roots’.

I began by helping friends and relatives and then by renting an allotment and growing vegetables and flowers.

A few years ago I was lucky enough to meet Emily and was able to channel my knowledge into a career and learn how to professionally maintain and develop other people’s gardens. This is when the seeds were sown for Grayshaw & Yeo Gardening.
