Hillier Garden Centre

Hillier Garden Centre is located just outside Horsham on the A281. It has been in operation for more than 30 years, providing quality seasonal plants, many of which are grown in Hillier’s own nurseries in Hampshire. There is also an extensive range of homeware and garden accessories, with friendly and knowledgeable staff on hand to offer guidance and advice. The site also includes a farm shop selling local produce, and a restaurant offering a seasonal menu.

Newbridge Nurseries Garden Centre

Newbridge Nurseries Garden Centre is located off the A264, near Broadbridge Heath. It’s one of the largest garden centres in the south of England and recently had an extensive refurbishment which included an extension. The vast plant area has an extensive range of garden plants, plus there is a large range of home and garden accessories. Newbridge is renowned for its excellent customer service and friendly staff. There is a well-regarded restaurant and café on site selling breakfast and lunch options.

Chesworth Farm

One of our favourite places to visit is Chesworth Farm.

Just a 10-minute stroll from Horsham town centre is one of the district’s truly hidden gems.

Covering 90 acres, Chesworth Farm is not only steeped in history, but also a paradise of wildflowers, grass meadows and ancient hedgerows. Dating back to at least 1086, the farm was once home to Catherine Howard, the fifth wife of Henry VIII, but today it is a managed farm alive with nature and popular with walkers, dog lovers, horse riders and cyclists.

The River Arun winds its way through the farm and a host of paths and boardwalks follow its meandering flow. Cycle enthusiasts can explore the Pedlars Way cycle route which connects Horsham to the neighbouring village of Southwater.

Remember to keep an eye out for the resident sheep, goats and llamas that call the farm ‘home’.

Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens

Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens is a magnificent Grade I listed garden, which has been called “the finest woodland gardens in England”. The ancient gardens feature many scarce trees and shrubs, and it is renowned for the outstanding flower displays. There are numerous walks around the parkland, lawns and forest areas. There is also a Sculpture Park and Art Gallery, a play area for children, and many local wildlife as well as wallabies, that were introduced in 1889.

Paid parking is available on sit. No outside food is allowed, but there are various cafes on site selling a range of hot and cold beverages, light lunches, and cakes. Well-behaved dogs on short leads are welcome.
